When it comes to announcements, Apple has never been one to shy away from pomp. Located just south of Central Park, on Manhattan's Fifth Avenue, beneath a 32-foot glass cube, Apple's new 24/7/365 retail store is no exception. In honor of the new store, our having nothing better to do on a Thursday night/Friday morning, and the unspeakably exciting opportunity to spend an evening in a subterranean bunker with a few shifts worth of hired geniuses and techy nighthawks. We spent twelve hours in the new Apple store, shopping, surfing the Web, fiddling with shiny new gadgets, craving sleep, trying to find out what kind of people shop for Airport Express Stations at 3:00 a.m., and generally overstaying our welcome.
