Fujitsu has announced its newest ultraportable, the LifeBook Q2010.  Looking to attract business people on the move, the 2.2-pound Q2010 is highly mobile and agile. And at only 0.75-inches thick, you'll have ample room in your bag for other gear.

The Q2010 features a glossy 12.1-inch Crystal View LED backlit display along with a full-size keyboard. It also sports a black matte finish, making this one of the most sophisticated-looking micro machines you can buy. It's also durable; titanium hinges and upper and lower magnesium casings should help protect your investment, as will the shock-mounted hard drive.

Like many ultraportables, the Q has enough oomph for basic tasks like e-mail, Web surfing, and word processing. The 1.2-GHz Intel Core Solo ULV (Ultra Low Voltage) processor is fine for e-mail, Web surfing, and general business needs, but it may not keep up with serious multitaskers. Watching a movie on the move isn't an option either, unless you spring for the docking station with a built-in optical drive.

Other features include 512MB or 1GB of RAM, your choice of hard drives up to 80GB, and two USB 2.0 ports, but no FireWire port. The Q2010 comes with a PC Card slot and a SD Card slot.

When it comes to endurance, the Q2010 ships with a three-cell battery. Since that lasts only 1.75 hours, we suggest stepping up to the optional four-cell battery (3.75 hours) or six-cell battery (7 hours), which increase the weight to 2.4 and 2.7 pounds, respectively.

The LifeBook lets users surf via 802.11a/b/g, or make VoIP calls using Skype with a Bluetooth v2.0 headset. No wireless WAN option is available, however. A biometric fingerprint reader and Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 1.2 are on board to keep your data protected.

The base price for the Q2010 is $1,999 and it's expected to hit stores this summer. We'll have a full review soon, but in the meantime, check out the top ultraportable picks in our recently-updated LAPTOP Buyers' Guide.
