Microsoft has put the Windows key to work in Vista by greatly expanding its functionality beyond what it could do in XP. Pressing this key in combination with other keys will save time and mouse clicks as you scurry through menus and sub-menus to perform the same function. For example, in Vista, the Run command has vanished from the Start menu, but the Windows key and R will launch it. If you've enabled Aero, pressing the Windows key and Tab scrolls its 3D windows. Here are some other useful Windows Vista key combos.

WINDOWS KEY and ANY NUMBER KEY = Opens icons on Quick Launch toolbar

WINDOWS KEY and G = Cycles through Sidebar gadgets

WINDOWS KEY and M = Minimizes all windows, returns to desktop

WINDOWS KEY and T = Cycles through programs on Taskbar

WINDOWS KEY and X = Opens Windows Mobility Center

WINDOWS KEY and SHIFT and M = Restores minimized windows

WINDOWS KEY and SPACE BAR = Brings Windows Sidebar to front

For more Windows-key shortcuts, press F1 from the desktop, search for Keyboard Shortcuts, and select the "Microsoft keyboard shortcuts" link.
