If you're sick of waiting for the next iPod nano, Creative just may have the mini PMP for you. Today, the company debuted the Zen, a flash player that offers a horizontal display large enough for watching videos, along with an SD Card slot for expansion.
The Zen (available in 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB capacities) supports MP3, WMA, AAC, Audible, and unprotected iTunes Plus tracks. On the video front, users can play back WMV files on the vivid 2.5-inch screen, which supports 16.7 million colors. The Zen can play other formats, including MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, and Xvid, but they must first be converted to WMV. Additional content can be loaded into the Zen via an SD memory card slot. As with other Creative players, this device features an FM tuner with 32 station presets.
The Zen does more than simply play music and video; it features a personal organizer for synching contacts, to-do lists, and your calendar via Outlook. The Creative Zen will be available starting at $149 in September.
Price: $149 (4GB); $199 (8GB); $299 (16GB)
