Design/Comfort The G5’s speaker nestles into the fold above your ear canal, ostensibly so you can better hear ambient sounds, but the speaker’s pressure became uncomfortable within 30 minutes. The Power/Mute and Talk/Transfer buttons are only slightly more raised than the decorative buttons beside them, making control during operation quite frustrating. However, there is a lanyard hole, and the + Volume button is raised so you can tell it apart from the - button.
Features Bluetake advertises 250 hours of standby time and five hours of talk time. The G5 supports both the headset profile (HSP) and hands-free profile (HFP) modes.
Performance The G5’s speaker is adequately loud and voices were clear at close range. We heard a moderate amount of wind when we tested it at arm’s length in front of a fan. Reception quality started diminishing around eight feet and garbling set in at 15 feet. Connection quality was poor at our full test distance of about 30 feet through multiple walls. Talk time was a very impressive 7 hours and 5 minutes.
Verdict Fair audio quality and good battery life compete against mediocre ergonomics in this attractively priced starter headset.
