With notebook sales having eclipsed desktop sales, more people than ever are hunched over their notebooks as they work and play--to the detriment of their posture. Seeking to alleviate chronic backaches is the Matias iFold, a stylish black, high-grade acrylic notebook stand with chrome zinc-alloy hinges that boosts your Mac or PC 7 inches off of your desk.

Lightweight Design

Weighing just 2 pounds, the iFold is surprisingly easy to tote; it folds flat for easy insertion into a notebook bag or briefcase. Nonslip rubber bumpers are sprinkled across the iFold's face and base to keep your notebook securely placed on the stand, and the open-air design helps stave off overheating.

A Comfortable Product

When used in conjunction with an external mouse and keyboard, the iFold promotes better posture because the display is at eye-level; there's no need to hunch. In our day-to-day use, we found the viewing level superb; having the display at eye-level felt much more natural. In fact, returning to a low-lying notebook was frustrating and uncomfortable.

The iFold Verdict

Our only gripe with the iFold is that it tended to wobble a bit with even light vibrations. Nevertheless, if you're a road warrior who wants to ease the pressure on your body and replicate the feel of a desktop computer without sacrificing mobility (and don't mind lugging an extra keyboard and mouse), the Matias iFold is a fine accessory.
