EASE OF USE There’s a large LCD display on both the base unit and the handset, and setup is simple. The combination of the bright display and the ability to import contacts from a cell phone means there are far fewer headaches when tracking down a specific number to dial.

PHONE COMPATIBILITY This cell dock works only with Motorola phones, but none of Cingular’s or T-Mobile’s four current Motorola phones and only two out of the five Verizon offerings work with the dock. It seems like a no-brainer that a Motorola cell dock would work with the RAZR, the most popular Motorola phone, but this is not yet the case.

FEATURES The SD4505 is the only one of the three systems we tested that can access cell phone contact lists. It can even download entries from the cell into the dock. This model includes a full-featured landline phone system, including an answering machine, call waiting, and Caller ID support. For a fee, users can download ringtones through the phone line from Open LCR (www.openlcr.com) directly into the device.

PERFORMANCE As with the RCA cell dock, if you can track down a compatible phone, placing phone calls through it from the landline is easy. The handset has a solid, professional feel and would not seem out of place in an office environment.

VERDICT Motorola needs to support its latest cell phone models, and soon, for this package to be worth a purchase.
