Laptop Mag Verdict
For 50 bucks, the Nokia 6555 is a capable multimedia phone for your listening pleasure.
Why you can trust Laptop Mag
Comfortable Features
AT&T's Nokia 6555 comes in black, red, or sand, and features a handy 3.5mm headphone jack. The 3G handset also offers a comfortable keypad that makes typing e-mails or text messages an enjoyable experience.
Downloading Music
If you have a Napster account, you can download music to your PC and then transfer those tracks to the phone. Unfortunately, the Nokia 6555 is not compatible with AT&T's eMusic over-the-air download service, but you can access streaming XM Radio ($8.99 per month) and Cellular Video through AT&T MEdia Net ($15 per month).
Nokia 6555 Performance
We enjoyed listening to music using a stereo Bluetooth headset with the Nokia 6555; we didn't experience any popping, and the music was crisp, albeit lacking some bass. The handset accepts 4GB microSD Cards, so you can add your own tracks easily.
Calls on the Nokia 6555 were satisfactory, although callers had a slight watery sound to their voices and conversations weren't as clear as they were on the Samsung Juke. Web browsing was slower than on other 3G phones; CNN.com loaded in 17 seconds. Battery life was sufficient; we talked on the phone casually for 3 days before having to charge it.
The Verdict
The 1.3-MP camera is mediocre, but the Nokia 6555 is a stylish and feature-rich multimedia phone for the price.
